Week 10 - Introduction to After Effects
LECTURE
We had a physical class this time around and he taught us the basic
understanding of the software Adobe After Effects since that will be our
main platform for the remaining weeks of the final project. He mentioned
several organisational tips are highly important because making animation
sometimes can be from a number of files. To keep the flow going smoothly is
to know where are your files located.
Adobe After Effects is mainly software for animation, visual effects, and
motion imagery. Motion Imagery is what we will be focusing on for our final
project. In the real world, this is yet another popular software, especially
for the post-production phase of a project. This software could be seen as a
medium that could manipulate both photography and videography and narrate it
according to your vision.
Before working in Adobe After Effects (AE), we must pre-compose our
layers/contents in Adobe Photoshop (PS) first for us to arrange and rename
them properly so that it will make our workflow easier in AE. He also taught
us that it's important to even organise your layers/folders in AE because
people starting out usually feel overwhelmed by the number of things and the
layout in the software.
TUTORIAL
He provided us with the materials for this tutorial session, we first had
to download the PSD file in the Google Drive link provided and we were
instructed to import it to AE for us to animate it later. He gave us basic
navigation such as composition sizing, ways/format to import files, rendering methods and so
on.
