Explain TikTok and suggest three TikTok videos:
TikTok is a social media platform that allows users to create and share short
videos with others. The app has experienced fast-paced growth in popularity
among the youth and the adults too. Short-duration videos are one of its
attention-catching features.
In addition to being entertaining, Tiktok has developed into a marketing tool
for most companies. The platform is being used by brands to connect with their
target market, especially the younger generations. The site is also used by
influencers to promote their work and establish their individual brands.
TikTok attached is my top three favourite contents:

For this particular exercise, my vision is to produce a "day-in-my-life" type
of video but instead of just showing what I do on campus, I would like to
include another inspiration from cooking voice-over videos by doing a
voice-over of my own recommending things to do on campus after class.
We are allowed to use any other devices for shooting and editing this
exercise. I've utilised my iPad for this next process of editing.
Software used: CapCut
By using CapCut, I begin trimming the video to ensure that only footage that I
would like to portray will be on the sequence and not the remaining of it. Sir
Martin mentioned in class that it would be better if u colour grade, animation
editing, etc. to enhance our TikTok video.
I had my video with moving subtitles, and adjustments of the photo editing to
ensure that they are consistent and followed the theme that I had in mind. The
video attached below is my Final TikTok video submission.

PROJECT 02: EXERCISE 02 - PRODUCTION SHOOT
We were divided into groups and each group will be assigned a trailer to
recreate. In class, we were briefed on the different positions and the tasks
that accompany them.
Role: Boom Operator / Location Sound (with Hayato)
Production Shooting: Group
Post-Production: Individual
Our Director created a plan via Google Docs on what needs to be done prior to
the shooting day. I was tasked to buy Energizer Double A batteries for the
operation of the Boom Mic.
We have come up with storyboards on how and where we envisioned the shoot to
be like. The pictures attached below are the rough storyboards that the group
has provided.

Unfortunately, for Scene 03, we changed our location due to certain circumstances and utilised the photo studio instead. When I was in post-production, it feels like the change of location is suiting due to the mood that it gave to the whole plot.
Below, will be the work-in-progress (WIP) pictures attached to show briefly
how my post-production went. However, I will now include a list of details
that acts as a mood board on how I want my clips to portray them at the end.
Theme: Break-up, Flashback, Regret, Sadness
Transition Style: White Flash (to portray flashback)
Colour Correction/Grading: Warm (Colour Temperature)
Workspace:
After going through the stages of choosing the appropriate video clips into a
sequence, respective audio files, and trimming them to my liking and
direction. This image is an overview of the utilisation of the tracks in my
workspace. The blue audio track is from the camera's sound, which wasn't used
because we have separate audio tracks from the boom mic that was used. The
subsequent tracks are utilised for ambience and also a song of choice to aid
in my narration/creative direction to this trailer I'm making.

Figure 2.4 - Workspace Overview |
I followed a User Guide from Adobe in creating vignettes that were used on
half of my clips as part of the colour-grading stage. This help set the mood
of my clips to make them look like a flashback. (Pictures not attached) but in
this stage, I also colour-corrected from the Lumetri Colour panel to make sure
that it blends well with the vignette-inspired look I'm going for.
Stabiliser:
|
|
Figure 2.5 - Vignette Panel |
Only in post-production that I realised this clip showing a phone in a
low-light environment was shaky due to the tripod-less decision from the other
production crews. I decided to look up online the steps to stabilise my
footage to reduce the shakiness so that viewers won't be distracted from
it.
Adjustment Layers (Part 1: Transition):
|
|

Adjustment Layers (Part 1: Transition):
I've also decided to add an adjustment layer for my transition rather than
editing it directly onto the clips for organising purposes. I've decided to go
for the white flash transition to portray the actress waking up from her
flashback daydream of her brief moments with the actor. Creating those
Keyframes and adjusting the White Input Level is what controls the
transition.
Adjustment Layers (Part 02: Flashback Clips Effect)

Figure 2.7 - Transition Effect (Adj. Layer) |
I turned the flashback clips to have a dreamy effect by using the Gaussian
Blur effect and by manipulating the opacity to not blow the effect too much.
It blends well with the warm temperature clips that I did before this
stage.

Audio:
Apart from the room ambience that I've added to mask the sound of the photo
studio that we used to film those scenes. I incorporated a section of the
song Like I Can by Sam Smith which viewers could also scene was playing
through the phone. I picked a section of the song that is super fitting to
portray the mood of the whole video.
I also followed a guide from this site to ensure that all of the added audio
is not overpowering. This is to maintain the sound hierarchy of the whole
sequence/project.
